SYNOPSIS

In H.A.R.L.E.M., Carla Segovia and Guillermo Aguilar borrow some elements from old-school Vogue and the zapateado of Mexican folklore, to put them in dialogue with contemporary dance. In this meticulous work, the music determines the movements and plays with the syncopation to constantly change the game.

H.A.R.L.E.M. is a piece presented as a duet that unites all these elements in a particular aesthetic and generates an environment of constant movement, from start to finish.

BIO

Carla Segovia and Guillermo Aguilar have been working together since 2017. During their careers, they have shared workshops in different countries and, individually, they have choreographed works that have received awards such as the Premio a la Creación Original Homoescénico and have been semi-finalists and finalists in the Premio Nacional de Danza Guillermo Arriaga.

Thanks to the 2018 SóLODOS en Danza award, they toured different festivals in Spain (Trayectos, Nexos, Danza no Claustro, Cádiz en Danza, Corpo (a) Terra, Deltebre Dansa, etc.). In 2019, thanks to the same award, they carried out the SóLODOS en Danza tour of Costa Rica. Their work has also been presented in Guatemala, Italy and Mexico.
